1. Introduction and Scope
This Privacy Policy explains how The Assam Rising — Talent Search Exam ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects personal information when you use talent.theassamrising.com and related services (the "Platform").
This Policy should be read together with our Terms and Conditions. By using the Platform, you (or, for a minor student, your parent or legal guardian on your behalf) agree to the practices described here.
We process personal data in accordance with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDPA") and the Information Technology Act, 2000.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Registration details: student name, class/grade, contact email, and (where the student is a minor) the registering parent or guardian's name and contact details.
- Exam data: your responses, scores, time taken, attempt history, and, where proctoring is enabled for an exam, technical signals used to detect irregular activity (such as repeated attempts to leave the exam window).
- Certificate and verification data: the school certificate you upload for verification, and the certificate we issue to you upon passing an exam.
- Payment information: we do not collect or store your card, UPI, or bank details ourselves - these are handled directly by our payment gateway provider. We retain only the transaction reference and status needed to confirm your payment.
- Technical data: IP address, browser type, device information, and basic usage logs, collected automatically for security and to keep the Platform working correctly.
- Communications: any messages you send us, for example through a support or grievance request.
3. Children's Data and Parental Consent
Many students using this Platform are under 18. Under Section 9 of the DPDPA, we must obtain verifiable consent from a parent or legal guardian before processing a minor's personal data, and the parent or guardian is treated as the "data principal" for that purpose.
- Registration for a minor student must be completed with the involvement of a parent or legal guardian, who confirms they have the authority to give this consent on the student's behalf.
- We do not use a minor's data for behavioural monitoring, targeted advertising, or any purpose beyond operating the exam and scholarship program, verifying eligibility, issuing certificates, and communicating with the registered parent or guardian about the student's progress.
- A parent or guardian may withdraw consent and request deletion of the student's data at any time by contacting us (see Section 8), subject to our need to retain records required by law or to resolve disputes about results already awarded.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- create and manage your account and verify your identity as a registered student;
- administer exams, calculate results, and enforce exam integrity rules;
- review and approve uploaded school certificates;
- generate and issue certificates, and allow anyone to verify a certificate's authenticity using its Certificate ID;
- process payments through our payment gateway provider;
- communicate with you or your parent/guardian about your registration, exam results, or scholarship status;
- investigate suspected violations of our Terms and Conditions, including exam integrity issues;
- meet our legal and regulatory obligations.
We do not sell personal data to third parties, and we do not use student data for targeted advertising.
5. How We Share Information
We share personal data only where necessary, with:
- Payment gateway providers, to process exam fee payments;
- Hosting and technical service providers, who store and process data on our behalf under confidentiality obligations;
- Schools, where certificate verification requires confirming a document with the issuing institution;
- Government or regulatory authorities, where required by law.
We do not share personal data with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
6. Data Storage and Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction, consistent with the requirements of the Information Technology Act, 2000 and its associated rules. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this Policy, or as required by law, after which it is deleted or anonymised.
7. Cookies and Similar Technologies
The Platform uses cookies and similar technologies necessary for core functionality, such as keeping you logged in during an exam session and remembering your preferences. We do not use cookies for third-party advertising tracking.
8. Your Rights

- request access to the personal data we hold about you or the student;
- request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data;
- request erasure of personal data, subject to our legal retention obligations;
- withdraw consent at any time, understanding this may limit or end your ability to use the Platform;
